Chemical etching is the special process employed to realize the microchan-nels on the heat transfer plates of PCHE heat exchangers, intended for the passage of fluids to be cooled or heated. Similar to the technique used for the production of electronic printed circuits, it allows full design freedom in creating customized flowing channel layouts, designed to maximize the heat exchange efficiency of the PCHE heat exchanger based on the speci-fic requirements and needs of the final application.
